French doors are considered to be one of the easiest ways to invigorate a space with light and warmth. Not only have French doors been a top choice for homeowners, architects and builders for decades due to their versatility, but they also top the list in terms of aesthetic appeal for any type of entryway that connects the inside to the outside. For example, a good set of French doors can be used as an opening to a garden, terrace, patio, balcony, or any other space that welcomes in the fresh air.

French Doors With Screens

While most of us love the way French doors can act as a bridge to the outdoors, we may not want everything that comes with the outdoors, including bugs or other small creatures. For this reason, installing French doors with screens makes perfect sense for protecting a living space from the different elements of nature that you would rather keep outside. The screens for French doors are essentially no different than any other screen for a patio door, except they have been specifically modified to fit French doors by way of an added track that enables them to slide open or closed.

French Doors With Screens

Surprisingly, many builders neglect to put screens on their French doors when they install them. In some scenarios, a separate company will come and install the screens, but more often than not, it simply doesn’t happen. It is not at all difficult for your average glass or window shop to install such a configuration; you just need to keep a few key things in mind when deciding which screens to install. For example, make sure that the doorknobs on your French doors don’t stick out too far that they prohibit the screens from closing. You will also need to be aware of which way the door swings; if it swings outward, you won’t be able to put a screen on the outside, but you can possibly install a retractable screen on the inside to make up for it. Be sure to consider all of the particulars of what it would look like to have French doors with screens so that you won’t encounter any nasty surprises during the installation process.
