5 Things to Consider When Buying a Water Dispenser

A water dispenser is a fairly new appliance that is rising in popularity. Water dispensers are usually used in a professional setting, but they don’t have to be. Water dispensers are fairly self-explanatory; they provide users with hot or cold water on demand. As a result, they can minimize water wastage and lessen your dependency on a water heater. Keep reading to learn more.

Types of Dispensers

There are several different forms of dispensers, depending on your preferences and the space that you have. There are tabletop dispensers which are often the smallest and cheapest versions, but they don’t have as many functions, and their capacity is smaller too. Next, there are top load water dispensers to consider, and they tend to be the most common, think of the dispensers that you have seen in your doctor’s waiting room, et cetera.

Base load water dispensers like the bottom loading water dispenser found on the Toshiba Lifestyle Website, on the other hand, are essentially the same but the opposite of top-load water dispensers being that the water is loaded at the bottom and not the top; they are usually more stylish though. They tend to share the same features, though. Finally, there are bottle-less water dispensers which are usually plumbed into the mains.

Their Water Capacity

The next thing to consider is the water capacity of the dispenser. Obviously, a bottle-less dispenser is plumbed into the mains and therefore, its capacity is limitless. Other forms of dispensers have a finite capacity relying on tanks which need to be swapped out or refilled occasionally. Think about your demand for the water; leaving the water in too for too long can allow the water to become stagnant, but you don’t necessarily want it to run out either. Think about what water capacity will work for you.

The Water Temperatures

You might also want to think about the water temperature. Some dispensers are limited in what they can offer, only offering cold or room temperature water, whereas others can offer both hot and cold water. For some people, the water temperatures might be a dealbreaker, so it is worth thinking about. For example, are you going to use the dispenser for cold drinks alone, or do you want it for hot drinks too?

The Power Consumption

The penultimate item to think about is the water dispenser’s power consumption. Some dispensers are more analog, using no power at all and relying on gravity to pull the water through the system, but these are more old-fashioned and often have fewer additional features too. Newer water dispensers are powered by electrics which is what allows them to heat up the water, for example. This can increase your electricity bill, which is something to bear in mind.

Maintaining Your Water Dispenser

The last thing to think about is the maintenance needs of the dispenser. Obviously, the water dispenser provides drinking water which means that it needs to be kept clean and in proper working order to make sure the water is safe to drink. Most water dispensers will come with instructions that outline the care guidelines.

In Short

There are a lot of things to think about when choosing to buy a new appliance for your home. Use the above tips and think about the needs of you and your family to help you to come up with your list of criteria for your water dispenser.
